CMYK Cyan—converting to RGB. This probably reveals a basic lack of colour understanding on my part, but here goes. A client of mine has a single colour logo in Cyan (C-100, M-0, Y-0, K-0) and would like it converted to RBG. When I convert to RBG in Illustrator, the colour looks washed out. I understand the gamuts are totally different, but I Adobe Illustrator files are created in two primary color formats – RGB and CMYK. RGB is used to display content on the web and CMYK for print. If you send your document to a printer, make sure it is in CMYK format. You can set a new document to CMYK and change Illustrator’s default color scheme in the process. You cannot map any arbitrary measurement system color (CMYK) into a named color system color (Pantone). There may not be a color there, so now you're scrambling to find the nearest. Conversely, every Pantone color has a Munsell and CIE number. (and XRite owns both Pantone and Munsell and could probably tell you.) Converting CMYK to RGB. I am having a problem converting .eps files that were created in CMYK to RGB for web display. Within Illustrator directly, these files look fine. But once they are uploaded to a web display, the colors appear over-saturated. I have seen this happen in reverse before, when RGB images are out of gamut for CMYK and become duller upon conversion.

Aug 15, 2022. Happily HSB is actually defined as a simple mathematical transform of RGB. So there is no such thing, for example, as an HSB profile; HSB is always qualified by the RGB space it is transformed from. Just convert to RGB with suitable profile, and then use the standard formula to convert to HSB. 1 Upvote.

Change your reading on the filled block to 100% black within the color panel. Remove the cyan, magenta, and yellow percentages. You mentioned the placed file is an RGB image, you will want to convert that RGB image to CMYK in Photoshop prior to placing it in Illustrator. As you may know, Adobe Color displays each color you picked in a variety of formats, including RGB, CMYK and, as a new feature, its Pantone respective match.
The normal way to design a logo for people who actually open Illustrator once in a while, is to first set it up for print in CMYK and always assume the thing will get printed at some point in time, regardess of one's Figma skills. That way, you first and foremost have a CMYK logo. Then, you convert that to RGB for web. Sorted by: 1. Illustrator only has CMYK & RGB.
