- If you want to travel and explore (multi-day trips)- get a smaller adv bike that's good for where you want to go. BMW 310, KTM 390 adventure, Versys 300, CRF300L Rally or something similar. All of those are hugely capable and you'll have way more fun on them and go more places than you will on an 890 Adventure R at your current experience level.

KTM response : "I checked the stock setting list for the 2021 890 Adventure R and the rear spring is a 95 N/mm that is suggested for a rider weight between 165 and 187 lbs. Similarly, the front spring rate is 6.7 N/mm and suggested for the same weight range". When I set the sag on my 890 R with 240mm travel, 30% = 72 mm of rider Sag.Improved for 2021, the KTM 890 ADVENTURE boasts twin 320 mm diameter brake discs with 4-piston, radially mounted calipers up front, and a 260 mm diameter brake disc actuated by a double-piston floating caliper in the rear providing superior feedback and stopping power.
The KTM 890 DUKE R features horizontally split crankcases, made from high-pressure cast aluminum, allowing for thinner wall thickness and added weight saving. The crankcases on the KTM 890 DUKE R have also been re-engineered to allow for the longer stroke over the KTM 790 DUKE.
