Engine Options, Horsepower and Acceleration. Engine: 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The Sportage's engine is adequate for around-town driving, but it feels underpowered for most other situations, like accelerating from a dead stop or passing other vehicles.
The range starts with a 1.6 turbo. Replacing the Gamma engine, This Smartstream engine makes two more horsepower, totaling 180. Replacing the 2.4-liter motor is a slightly larger 2.5, making 198 horsepower. While the strength of these engines isn’t much higher, their reliability so far seems to be far superior of their predecessors.
However, a 12-cylinder engine with 500cc of cylinder capacity would have a total displacement of 6.0 litres, making it a far larger engine. In fact, large engines are often known by their capacity, like the 351 Ford GT (which has a displacement of 351 cubic-inches), or the Monaro GTS 350 (350 cubic-inches).
as a ford tech that works on these a lot, I would go with the 2.5. We have seen issues with both the 1.6 and 2.0 engines but very little from the 2.5L even with high miles on them.

The engine was developed due to hard taxation of engines bigger than two liters (for petrol, the diesels for over 2.5L) but as we say here in Italy "fatta la legge trovato l
The mechanical grip of the 235/50R19 Hankook Ventus S1 Nobel2 tires on our top-trim 1.5T Premier test car seemed appropriate for the segment and delivered top-of-class 0.83 g lateral acceleration.
The 1.8L and 2.0L engines return decent fuel efficiency numbers at 30-31 and 27-28 combined mpg, respectively. However, competitors in the segment are rated better. Regardless of engine choice, it takes close to 10 seconds to motivate the 2016 Hyundai Elantra from 0 to 60 mph.
There are a lot of people who’d argue that the smaller 1.6-litre engine 205 GTi is actually the better of the two, but while we’re strictly keeping it under 2.0-litres for this list, we may as well go for the full 1.9-litre with its 130PS (96kW). 2.5L 4 Cylinder vs 3.5 6 Cylinder. Which engine has better performance? 1) The four cylinder can take the energy of one gallon of fuel and project itself 35 miles down a highway where as the V-6 cylinder can only muster 31 miles in the same test and on the same highway. 2) The four cylinder can maintain 60MPH on cruise control for longer on a

2.0 has better fuel economy and power, but with the 1.8 being a thing for so long, if you want an engine that's going to be completely reliable where mechanics will have plenty of experience, the choice is yours. Honestly I'd go with the 2.0 for the fuel efficiency and power, just because, it's a corolla. The more powerful 175bhp 2.0-litre diesel has better low-end pulling power but wasn't as popular because it was expensive when new. The 161bhp 1.6 petrol is the least recommendable engine for it The naturally aspirated 1.4 / 1.6 gasoline engines, available since 1995, belong to the successful K series. Malicious people will probably find that they are much better designs than the cars to which they were mounted. Renault offered 1.4 / 1.6 engine in most of its models – from Twingo to Laguna and Kangoo. High-mileage early Volvo V40s can be found for £3000, but it is better to budget for at least £5000: this gets you a 1.6-litre D2 SE manual with average mileage and a decent service history Engine. Member. The 1.6 is much better to drive. The 1.4 tends to be more difficult to get moving at junctions without juddering or over-revving. Engines between 1.0- and 2.0-litre are more common amongst larger family hatchbacks and mid-size SUVs. Most engines in this range will be turbocharged and have around 150hp. mFP3CE.
